Disorders that can interfere with the proper function of the Integumentary system
Since your skin is part of the Integumentary system, there are many diseases that can affect this system. The disorders range from common to rare, such as acne, warts, Skin Cancers and etc.. Some of these disorders can also be contagious to others. For treatments you wouldn't go to a family doctor or surgeon as they don't specialize in skin, instead you would need to go to a "Dermatologist". Dermatologists are doctors that specialize in the medical field of skin and can help with problems involving skin.
But remember to prevent these from happening to you, your hygiene is important, so eat healthy, stay fit and be clean. Also, don't harm your skin and body.

Basic Skin disorders (most common)
Acne
Acne is disorder caused by the hair and oil glands. Acne are red bumps and pimples on the face, chest and back.
Since acne is controlled by hormonal changes during the adolescent (teenage) years, its a very common skin disorder that Dermatologists treat. Treatment To treat acne you can use Vitamin A products (retinols), Benzoyl Peroxides to decrease bacteria, antibiotics to reduce inflammation and Salicylic acid to unplug your pores |
Warts
Rough bumps caused by viral infections are Warts. In a Wart there are sometimes black dots, these are blood vessels that are being blocked which have been caused by a Papilloma viral infection. Warts occur mainly on the feet and hands.
Treatment To treat Warts you would need to mildly irritate it, you can do this by liquid irritation, lasers and freezing. This is so that your immune system could see that this is a viral infection and get rid of it. |
Vitiligo
When your cells that produce skin colour no longer function this disorder is known as Vitiligo. Sometimes these cells are attacked by the immune system and/or die or stop working unexpectedly. If a person has Vitiligo, him/her can develop patches of white skin.
